First and Second Class took part in a Blue Flag Beach awareness morning in Two Mile Gate on Monday the 12th of June as part of Active School Week.

The children were given a Water Safety session with Clare McGrath, Water Safety Officer and Beach Lifeguard where they learned vital life skills and safety procedures. They learned what the safety flags mean and were shown how to read information from the Blue Flag Notice Board.

They also completed a Blue Flag beach awareness session with Karen Foley, Environmental Awareness Officer.  They learned how to recycle properly and played interactive activities and games on the theme of Leave No Trace and Race Against Waste. It was a fantastic morning and the children learned so much. An ice-cream treat was needed to cool us all down!
