As part of the Physical Education Curriculum programme, Ogonnelloe N.S. have been focusing on developing the Games and Athletics strands of the curriculum during Term 1.
To develop these strands, hurling coaching sessions were organised for children in first to sixth class each Thursday for six weeks. The sessions were facilitated by an external coach, Jim Corbett and overseen by the class teacher.
The fundamental movement skills of running, catching, throwing, striking with the hand and striking with an implement were developed over the six sessions. All skill levels were catered for by the coach, and clear progress has been made by all the children.
Many thanks to Ogonnelloe Hurling for kindly subsidised this initiative.
