Physical education is an integral part of the total curriculum provided by Ogonnelloe N.S. As part of the physical education curriculum programme Ogonnelloe N.S will be focusing on developing the Games and Athletics strands of the curriculum during Term 1.To develop these strands, hurling coaching sessions have been organised for children in first to sixth class. Coaching sessions will be held every Thursday. Sessions will run from Thursday the 9th of September to Thursday 21st of October. The sessions will be facilitated by an external coach, Jim Corbett and they will be overseen by the class teacher.
The focus of the sessions will be to develop the fundamental movement skills of running, catching, throwing, striking with the hand and striking with an implement.
Ogonnelloe Hurling club has kindly subsidised this initiative. The school would like to extend a special word of thanks to the club for this kind gesture and for allowing us continued access to the GAA field.
